Kowa TSN-99A PROMINAR 99mm Angled Spotting Scope Body

Kowa TSN-99A PROMINAR 99mm Angled Spotting Scope Body are a significant upgrade to their former flagship TSN-880 scopes. The 99mm pure fluorite objective lens/concave lens doublet is now paired with an XD element to further reduce chromatic aberration to invisibility. At 14.9", the TSN-99A body is only 1.4" longer than the TSN-883 body. It weighs 63.8 oz. compared to the 53.6 oz. of the 883. These are specs you would expect on the larger 99mm body, but they are significantly the lowest in this class. Kowa also modernized the look of the TSN-99A with sleeker lines on the tripod mount foot and the prism housing. The color of the exterior is the current Kowa green painted magnesium alloy. In the TSN-99 models, Kowa retained their dual coaxial focusing knobs. The larger diameter knob enables quick focus adjustments while the smaller knob moves at 1/5 the speed for the fine touch of zeroing in on perfect focus. The TSN-99 spotting scopes accept all the same accessories (except, of course, stay-on cases will be larger) as the TSN-880 models, including eyepieces, extenders, and digiscoping adapters. Current eyepieces in the 770/880 mount series will still work with the TSN-99A, but they will have increased magnification due to the longer focal length of the 99mm objective. TE-11WZ, which is 25-60x on the 880s and 770s will be 30-70x on the 99A. Close focus will be about 3' longer at 19.7', and field of view will reduce to 105' -60' at 1000 yards (30x-70x). There will be a new version of the TE-11WZ, the TE-11WZ II, which will have power markings for use on both the TSN-99 series and the TSN-880/770 series. Kowa also introduced a new fixed power eyepiece, the TE-80XW 40x Extreme Wide Angle Eyepiece. As the name implies, this eyepiece has an apparent FOV of 80°, which converts to 121' at 1000 yards. Magnification will be 35x on TSN-880/770 bodies. It has 17mm eye relief on all scope sizes. The TE-80XW has two special lenses: one is an XD lens and the other is a field flattener lens that gives edge-to-edge sharpness when focus is achieved.
